Type 1 Chargers in Australia
The J1772 AC connector used by older Japanese and American EVs
Type 1 (IEC 62196-1 / J1772) is a single-phase AC charging connector originally developed in the US and adopted by several early Japanese EVs. In Australia it is found on some older Mitsubishi i-MiEV, Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV (early models), and first-generation Nissan Leaf vehicles. Most Type 1 stations also accept Type 2 via an adapter, and newer Mitsubishi PHEV models have since transitioned to Type 2.
